Mr. Whitesell initially envisioned a place to provide air transportation services to those involved in building the Alaska Pipe Line. He also wanted to provide a place where both travelers and local families could dine in the fine restaurant, stay in the quaint Flying W Motel, and swim in the famous airplane-shaped swimming pool. Over the years, the restaurant and lounge have provided enjoyment to many who still visit to share their wonderful memories. In 1996, a big change took place at the "W" when John and Dawn Cave purchased the property. The Caves' vision was to build on the grand reputation of the "W" as a destination for both fliers and local families. The entire facility has been revamped while maintaining its unique country/ranch setting. The acquisition of the adjacent Golden Pheasant Golf Club has advanced the Caves' goal of creating a complete family resort. Please come visit and make your own wonderful memories.
